Explaining what High Design stands for: Lineapelle’s newest mission

Lineapelle lands in China in order to start a brand new chapter in global networking. The high design aim, through an innovative sharing format, is to define in a transversal way the creative codes of the future by integrating tradition, culture, design and technology, and by discussing it with those who – within these fields – “is shaping aesthetics and sensibility”

Let’s start from these words: “In a world in which speed suffocates depth, High Design represents a statement of intent, as designing the future means being able to intertwine humanism and innovation, tradition and intuition, technology and spirituality. The High Design project is an invitation to rediscover the culture of making as an act of thought, in order to reestablish design at its highest purpose: to create meaning, not just shapes”.

Within these words we are able to recover the meaning and the aim of this new project, launched by Lineapelle in order to intercept and decline towards the future what in German is defined as Zeitgeist: “The spirit of the age”. In other words, the transversal and cultural leading trend during a specific period of time.

Explaining what High Design is

The speaker is Orietta Pelizzari (Lineapelle advisor within projects that regard fashion, business and culture) who, as the first step in this new mission for Lineapelle, in China – more precisely in Shanghai – organized various “private conversations, a format that stems from the need to overcome the classic and conservative models of public events. By replacing the distance that characterizes frontal conferences with an intimate and spontaneous language, much more similar to a tea talk or a coffee conversation”.

It is a format that essentially “represents a cultural innovation of great value. By offering to designers, entrepreneurs, museum directors and experts the possibility to openly speak about themselves, of their identity and both of their own personal and professional experiences. All of this is an act of freedom and mutual trust. A gesture that breaks through the silence of formality in order to embrace the transparency of authenticity”.

Lineapelle’s newest mission

“The guests who received an invitation to participate in the talks of High Design Shanghai – as explained by Pelizzari – were individually identified as a part of a creative constellation. The one that, nowadays, is shaping the aesthetics and sensibility of contemporary China: from design to art, from fashion to interior design, reaching hospitality and the culture of wellness”. People who “are redefining the codes of taste and visual experience, by creating a bridge between local heritage and international openness”.

Meeting them and creating a dialogue, as well as sharing informal -but at the same time refined and stimulating –  moments of discussion, allowed Lineapelle to start to map the Chinese market in a brand new way: by integrating the design vision model with tradition, culture and advanced technologies. “We want to initiate a cross cultural ecosystem – as declared by Pelizzari – in which different disciplines – design, architecture, art, hospitality, business – are able to find and share a common ground in order to plan the future”.

Going beyond aesthetics

The words of one of the participants of the Chinese private conversations organized by Lineapelle, Xiaojun Han (partner of Skai AI), get more specific about this integration. “In a period of time in which artificial intelligence has the power to make design much more democratic, the market will be flooded by mid-range products. High Design will transcend aesthetics.

It will transform into a lifestyle and community index. It will no longer be just about the object itself, but the focus will be put on the identity that the specific item will give to the exclusive group that it will represent. The consumers are investing into a culture and a system of shared values. This sense of belonging and identity will be what truly distinguishes luxury, and will define High Design during the age of artificial intelligence”.

Crafting the Future

The High Design project has a significant subheading: Crafting the Future. A slogan that doesn’t aim to be “a promise, but a participating act – concludes Pelizzari -. It’s the gesture of who shapes the future with his hands, mind, and with the sensibility of who knows the value of time”. Precise and important characteristics that find their most distinguished and credible example in high-quality materials – as the Italian leather.
