For the fifth edition of the Sustainable Fashion Awards, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana is launching an Advisory Committee. And calling on the association’s players in the manufacturing industry supplying the fashion system to take part. It will be up to them to propose virtuous cases to be awarded concerning circularity, responsibility, and green innovation. Appointment at La Scala in Milan on 25 September 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

Who is putting circular design<\/strong> at the heart of the business<\/strong>? For the first time, this question will be answered by the leather industry<\/strong>: from tanneries to shoe and bag manufacturers. Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana<\/strong> took a step forward on the occasion of the fifth edition of its Sustainable Fashion Awards 2022<\/strong>. The awards will be presented on 25 September 2022<\/strong> at La Scala in Milan, at the closing of Milan Fashion Week.<\/p>\n

CNMI opens the Sustainable Awards to the supply chain<\/strong><\/h3>\n

UNIC \u2013 Concerie Italiane, ICEC <\/strong>(Quality Certification Institute for the Leather Industry), Assocalzaturifici, Assopellettieri<\/strong>, as well as Confindustria Moda<\/strong> are among the 28 organisations forming the first Advisory Committee<\/strong> of the award. Objective: to carry out an initial skimming of the candidatures. It will then be up to the international jury<\/strong>, whose president in this edition will be Dame Ellen MacArthur<\/strong> (founder of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation), to decide the winner in each of the 12 categories<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Underpinning the choice<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Under the lens will be the environmental, social, and governance performance<\/strong> “of personalities and companies that have distinguished themselves in the Italian and international fashion world for their commitment to sustainability in all its facets”.<\/p>\n

For each of the 12 award categories envisaged, the basis for the choice will be the system derived from the ESG Due Diligence and Corporate Social Responsibility Reporting Framework<\/strong>. A tool is specific to fashion elaborated by EFI – Ethical Fashion Initiative<\/strong> of the United Nations in collaboration with CNMI.<\/p>\n

“Together with CNMI,” explains Simone Cipriani, founder of EFI, “we want to pave the way for transparent sustainability<\/strong> based on a serious system<\/strong> of performance indicators<\/strong>. The award on 25 September will therefore only be a stage in a ‘longer and more lasting’ journey.<\/p>\n

Great depth<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The award ‘will be the result of work of great depth<\/strong>, for an award that has worked with the protagonists of Italian fashion who had already worked to set up the sustainability table at CNMI years ago. Namely, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Prada, and Valentino,’ Riccardo<\/strong> Vannetti,<\/strong> CNMI director of special projects, explains in Vogue<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“It is the visions of the future, not those of the present, that must guide us in the process of awareness and transformation that promises to be exciting,” says Carlo<\/strong> Capasa<\/strong>, president of CNMI.
